We can help

Education

We provide continuous opportunities for education and awareness raising within the Niagara Region, and upon special request outside the region. All education is free to persons with dementia, caregivers and families.  

Education for Family and Friends

First Link Learning Series 
A 4 week series offered monthly in various cities throughout the Niagara Region to help care partners learn more about dementia, develop caregiving strategies, and become familiar with community resources and supports.

  Public Forums 
These free community based education sessions are held at various times throughout the year.
Caregiver Wellness: Navigating Your Journey
A 2 part series giving participants the opportunity to examine their own journey with dementia and learn about resources and supports that may be available along the way. 

   

Education for Individuals with Dementia and Care Partners

Connections First 
This introductory 2.5 hour session will help participants get to know their local Alzheimer Society and how we can help, as well as learn about normal aging and healthy brain strategies.

  Beyond Words Learning Series
An eight week learning series for persons in the early-stage of dementia and their care partners. Educational content is linked specifically to the group’s experiences and open dialogue and communication is encouraged.


Education for Health Care Professionals

Our Psychogeriatric Resource Consultants provide education to professionals working in Long-Term Care settings, while our Education department provides education to Community Support Service sector professionals and students.  Programs include:
