Victoria health-care experts to share their insights on supporting people with dementia
January 4, 2017 – On February 2, the Alzheimer Society of B.C. will be hosting Breakfast to Remember in Victoria. Guests will hear from two speakers at this breakfast event which is a fundraiser in support of the Society’s work.Keynote speaker
Dr. Brendan Carr, President and Chief Executive Officer, Island Health
A Doctor of Medicine (MD) and an Emergency Department physician, Dr. Carr has been President and CEO for Island Health since 2013. Active in education and health services research, Dr. Carr is an advocate for transformation in health care.
Dr. Holly Tuokko, Professor in the Department of Psychology and a research affiliate of the Institute on Aging & Lifelong Health at the University of Victoria in British Columbia
A clinical neuropsychologist, Dr. Tuokko was previously the Supervising Psychologist at the Clinic for Alzheimer Disease and Related Disorders at UBC Hospital and worked on a geriatric mental health outreach team. Since its inception, she has been the Psychological Health theme leader for the Canadian Longitudinal Study on Aging, a study that will follow 50,000 Canadians age 45 to 85 for at least 20 years.
