On the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, hear Ray’s story
September 30th marks the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation: a time to honour survivors of residential schools, remember the children who never returned home, and stand with their families and communities.

For First Nations and Indigenous people, dementia presents unique challenges. Dementia rates are 34% higher compared to non-Indigenous populations, and many face barriers to diagnosis and culturally safe care.
We’re sharing Ray’s story, an Indigenous man living with dementia in Northern Ontario. His journey is a powerful reminder of why reconciliation in healthcare matters, and why we must ensure every person has access to support and dignity along the dementia journey.
