Ontario Dementia Strategy
“The Alzheimer Society of Ontario welcomes the release of Developing Ontario’s Dementia Strategy. Virtually everyone in Ontario will be touched by dementia – our families, our workplaces and our communities. We commend the Minister’s leadership in opening up discussions on this important health issue. We look forward to working with him to ensure people with dementia and those caring for them have a say in how to create an Ontario where all people with dementia can live well.”
-Chris Dennis, CEO, Alzheimer Society of Ontario
The Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care has now wrapped-up their public consultations on Developing Ontario’s Dementia Strategy: A Discussion Paper. The ministry received 4,079 responses to their feedback survey – 80% of these came from people like you who were reached through the Alzheimer Society of Ontario and actionfordementia.ca. The ministry is thrilled with this amount of activity and so are we!
This is a great success for the Alzheimer Societies and for Ontario families who have been touched by dementia – but our work is not done!
Change is not possible without support in numbers!
In the New Year, we are undertaking phase 2 of our campaign which is to see a fully-funded dementia strategy included in the 2017 Ontario budget.
We are encouraged by its mention in the Fall Economic Review, but there are many competing endeavours for provincial investment.
We still need your help!
Take action for dementia by adding your name to www.actionfordementia.ca so we can share important updates and activities for how you can impact real change for people living with, or caring for someone living with dementia.
