Making a Phone Call
Telephoning a MP's office is a convenient way for people to make their concerns heard in an easy and time efficient manner.
Offices keep track of how many calls they receive on each different issue, so even if your call does not make is past the MP's assistant, you have still accomplished something.
The following are things to keep in mind when making a call:
- Unless you have a pre-existing relationship with your MP, expect to speak to an assistant or staff member.
- Identify yourself as a constituent.
- State your reason for calling – be clear and direct.
- Be personal, let your MP's office know why this issue is important to you, and to the community they serve.
- If you are given enough time, try and determine what, if any, connection your MP has to dementia.
- Thank your MP or the staff member for their time.
