Society Calls for a Summit of Federal, Provincial Health Officials

The Alzheimer Society is asking all of its champions, both advocates and Members of Parliament, to support it's ask of the Honourable Leona Aglukkaq, Minister of Health, to host a National Summit on Dementia.

The Summit would bring Minister Aglukkaq together with her provincial and territorial health counterparts, along with other elected officials with responsibilities for seniors and veterans, to develop a coordinated response to the dementia epidemic across Canada.

Alzheimer Society Applauds Investment into Neurological Conditions

Canadians with neurological conditions, caregivers and representatives from Neurological Health Charities Canada celebrate the announcement of $15 million in research funding, made today by The Honourable Leona Aglukkaq, Canada's Minister of Health. The investment will fund the first-ever national study on the prevalence and impact of neurological diseases in Canada.

The Time to Act is NOW!

Thanks to your efforts, Prime Minister Stephen Harper heard from thousands of Alzheimer Advocates this March, calling on the federal government to make dementia a national health care priority.

Canadians from every province and territory participated in the campaign, e-mailing and mailing postcards to bring attention to the need for a national dementia strategy.
