Alzheimer's Forum -- a website produced by and for people with dementia
This small group of people with dementia from the West Kent area of the United Kingdom would like to establish contact with other people who are in the same situation as them. They invite people to contribute items to their website stories about personal experiences, coping strategies, anecdotes, items of humour, poetry or prose.

DASN International (Dementia Advocacy and Support Network)
A worldwide organization by and for those diagnosed with dementia, working together to improve quality of life

DASN (Dementia Advocacy and Support Network)
A dementia patient and supporters non-profit organization working to improve the lives of all people with dementia of any kind. This online community is the "workplace" of DASN International, with a message board, an e-mail list and a chat room.

DementiaGuide
DementiaGuide.ca is a website to help people with Alzheimer's disease and their caregivers recognize, understand, record and monitor their symptoms through an interactive tool. For more information on this tool including subscriber cost, please visit the site.

Identifies several hundred information resources in some 25 countries which are significant either in size or in their unique coverage of particular aging-related issues. Canadian Coalition for Seniors' Mental Health (CCSMH)
The CCSMH provides its Educational Guides for Seniors and Families free of charge. The information in these guides will help older adults to make informed decisions about their health care and build effective relationships with their health care providers.

Canadian Study of Health and Aging
This study of the epidemiology of dementia in Canada has followed over 10,000 elderly Canadians over a 10-year period from 1991 to 2001, collecting a wide range of information on their changing health status over that time. This website explains the study goals and methods, introduces you to the data collected and gives a summary of the main results.

Alzheimer research

10/66 Dementia Research Group
Less than 1/10 of all population-based research into dementia has been directed towards the 2/3 or more of all people with dementia who live in developing parts of the world. This group of researchers, affiliated to Alzheimer's Disease International, has linked together to try to redress this imbalance. It encourages active collaboration between research groups in different developing countries, and between developed and developing countries.

Alzheimer Research Forum
Promotes scientific communication and creative thinking in the search for the causes and treatments for Alzheimer's disease.

The Institute for Life Course and Aging (ILCA)
Seminar presented by Dr. Mary Mittelman, of New York University's School of Medicine, at the ILCA, on September 10, 2007, entitled "The Science Behind Caregiver Interventions: Research Trends".

Dr Mittleman's research indicates that offering training to caregivers of people with Alzheimer's disease not only eases their strain but has been found to delay the need for long term care for an extra 1.5 years.

The Kenneth G. Murray Alzheimer Research and Education Program
A unit of the Centre for Applied Health Research (CAHR) of the Faculty of Applied Health Sciences, University of Waterloo in Ontario, this program serves as an information and communication link between researchers and practitioners. MAREP is in partnership with six long-term care facilities (Innovation Centres) where onsite research on best practices and innovative approaches is conducted.

Research Canada
An Alliance for Health Discovery is a not-for-profit, voluntary organization that is a strong national voice for health research advocacy in Canada. Working for all Canadians, its membership is drawn from all sectors dedicated to increasing investments in health research, including the leading health research institutes, national health charities, hospitals, regional health authorities, universities, private industry and others.
