Dr. Ron Keren

Ron Keren was born and raised in Vancouver and received his medical degree at the University of Tel-Aviv, Israel. Dr. Keren completed his residency training in Psychiatry at the University of Maryland, where he also completed a clinical fellowship in Geriatric Psychiatry.

Dr. Keren is an assistant professor at the University of Toronto and the clinical director of the University Health Network and Whitby Mental Health Centre Memory Clinics. He is the medical leader for the Toronto Rehabilitation Institute, psychogeriatric program where patients with dementia and behavioural disorders are assessed and treated and the interim Medical Director of the Toronto Rehabilitation Institute Geriatric Rehabilitation Program.
Dr. Keren is a clinician who's full time practice is dedicated to the diagnosis and management of dementing disorders. He is also the primary investigator in a number of clinical drug trials exploring novel therapeutics for Alzheimer's disease.
Dr. Keren has made a significant contribution to the body of knowledge about Alzheimer's disease and dementia in Canada through his work as the founder and president of the Canadian Colloquium on Dementia,(CCD), a non-profit corporation that organizes a national conference on dementia held every two years. Under Dr. Keren's stewardship, CCD has become a meeting of professionals devoted to presenting cutting-edge research on dementia, and educating participants on trends in the diagnosis and treatment of Alzheimer's disease and other dementias.
The 5th Canadian Conference on Dementia will be held on Oct. 1-3, 2009 at the Westin Harbor Castle Hotel in Toronto.
