Dale Goldhawk
Volunteerism Award

Dale Goldhawk has committed over 14 years of service as a volunteer to the Alzheimer Society in Canada. During these years, Dale has been a tireless speaker at Society events, conferences; AGM's and Board meetings across the country, and never turns down a request unless it conflicts with his TV or radio shows. Dale is a compelling and eloquent spokesperson for the ASC, often speaking about his own personal involvement with the disease, and he has been frequently interviewed by national and local media.

One of Dale's passions is in the area of public policy, and in addition to having served as Public Policy Chair, he has continued to be involved in issues at all levels of the Society - national, provincial and local including chairing the Society's Governance Committee. His clear sense of vision, compelling national presence, and understanding of the Society has given him the leadership skills to mobilize volunteers around meaningful issues.

Since 1999, he has served as an ASC Board member, Secretary to the Board, First Vice-President, President and will complete his term as Past President in June 2009. He is now poised to begin his newest appointments, as Chair of the local organizing Committee for the 2011 ADI Conference in Toronto, and as an elected Board member of Alzheimer's Disease International.

In his professional life, Dale is an award winning journalist, author and broadcaster with over 38 years experience in Canadian newspapers, radio, television, including the Toronto Telegram, CBC Television, CBC Radio, Global Television and the CTV Television Network.

Dale hosts Goldhawk LIVE, a national television current affairs show from Ottawa on CPAC, Canada's Political Channel; a daily, Ontario-based Goldhawk LIVE on Rogers Television; and he is also the host of Goldhawk Fights Back on CFRB Radio in Toronto, Canada's largest talk radio station. Dale is the author of "Getting What You Deserve" published by Dundurn. He is also publisher and editor at www.goldhawk.com.

Dale is married to Jill Foster, a former senior producer at the Global Television Network. Jill is now an elementary school teacher, specializing in literacy. They have two children: Emma, and Nick.
