Title: Ambassador
Supervisor(s): Executive Director, Marketing & Events Coordinator, Volunteer & Events Coordinator 
Time Commitment: 2 - 20 hours a year 

Purpose: Ambassadors should be willing to share some or their entire story.  By sharing their story, they are helping others to:

  • Understand more about Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias
  • Learn about the programs and services the Alzheimer Society of Thunder Bay offers
  • Feel comfortable enough to seek much needed help  

Tasks and responsibilities:

(may include all or some of the following)

  • Ambassadors would be called upon only for previously identified areas of interest and would be given ample notice and preparatory notes/training.  Various levels of time commitment could exist depending on the project, but the Society would discuss project details with Ambassadors, including time commitment, before proceeding
    • Provide testimonials or quotes (for advertising purposes)
    • Participate in photo shoots (for advertising purposes) or video recordings (e.g. for commercials, news stories, documentaries, etc.)
    • Act as spokespeople (e.g. at events, for media interviews, etc.)
    • And participate in other similar tasks as needed

 Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of and/or experience with Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias
  • Articulate
  • Passionate

Orientation and training:

  • Orientation to be provided prior to volunteerism

 Screening:

  • Application
  • Discussion interview
  • Reference checks
  • Training completion

Evaluation/Success Measures:

  • Evaluation will occur by discussion between the volunteer, the Digital Marketing Coordinator and the Volunteer and Event Coordinator as needed. Success criteria will be determined prior to volunteerism, and prior to and after each project.
