Coffee Hour Facilitators

Volunteers assist in organizing the Coffee Hour Social for individuals in Early Stage Alzheimer’s disease or other dementia and their care partners. This monthly event provides an opportunity for the individual living with Alzheimer’s disease and their care partner to meet for socialization and mutual support with others who share the same experiences.

The volunteers organize the details of the monthly event and provide a safe, welcoming and private environment in a local restaurant.

Responsibilities:
  • Organize the Coffee Hour locations, arrange for refreshments, make monthly reminder calls, circulate all necessary promotion material, answer requests for information and registration of participants. Maintain a relationship with the hosting site. Arrange payment of expenses. Recordkeeping,
  • Welcome all participants and distribute Name Tags. Introduce new participants, prepare and serve refreshments. Clean up after meeting.
  • Encourage the participants to interact with one another. Allow for silence in group. Ensure everyone has an opportunity to participate. Direct any questions or concerns to the Family Support Coordinator, distribute any information provided by the Alzheimer Society of Simcoe County
  • Communicate to the Support Services team, any ideas or suggestions for programming, cooperate in the promotion and implementation of events and programs of the Alzheimer Society of Simcoe County
