Volunteer Companion Program
The Volunteer Companion Program matches a volunteer with a person who has Alzheimer’s disease or a related dementia residing in Perth County. This program allows short-term relief for caregivers, while providing one on one programing for the person with Alzheimer’s disease or related dementias. The Volunteer Companion Program Coordinator will match the Volunteer Companion appropriately based on interests, common background and availability. As a volunteer companion you will provide weekly 2 hour visits for the companion and respite for the caregiver. Each volunteer receives twelve hours of initial training and annual training thereafter. The Alzheimer Society of Perth County screens all applicants of the Volunteer Companion Program thoroughly.
