Respite Worker - Nora's House

(Casual/Relief)

Respite Workers work directly with clients to provide personal care, activities, and support to the memory impaired.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist clients with all aspects of personal care
  • Preparation, set up and clean up of meals and snack
  • Regular communication with caregivers
  • Ongoing client assessment
  • Completion of daily cleaning duties
  • Documentation
  • Work 8 hour shifts and flexible to work different shifts as required
  • Weekday, overnight and weekend work
  • Plan and implement therapeutic activities for clients
  • Commitment to continuing professional development

Qualifications:

  • PSW diploma or a diploma of Therapeutic Recreation, Activation, Social Services, Gerontology or equivalent
  • Must have knowledge and experience working with individuals with Alzheimer Disease
  • Extensive experience providing personal care
  • Experience planning, implementing and evaluating activities
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Certified in First Aid/CPR
  • Team Oriented
  • Class G and/or F Driver’s license an asset or willingness to obtain

Program Worker

(Contract Positions Available - 35 hours per week)

Program Workers work directly with members of the Alzheimer Society Peel Day Program to provide activities, support and care to the cognitively impaired.  This includes supporting the achievement of goals and objectives as outlined by the Day Program Coordinator/Manager, which align with the strategic priorities of the organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan, implement, and evaluate therapeutic activities for clients
  • Prepare, set up, and clean up of meals and snacks
  • Commitment to continuing professional development
  • Regular communication with caregivers
  • Ongoing client assessments
  • Assist clients with personal care
  • Documentation
  • Escort duties on ASP buses
  • Driving ASP buses

Qualifications:

  • Degree or Diploma in Therapeutic Recreation, Activation, Social Services, Gerontology, or equivalent
  • Knowledge and experience working with individuals with Alzheimer’s Disease or a related dementia
  • Experience providing personal care
  • Experience planning, implementing, and evaluating activities
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Certified in First Aid/CPR
  • Team Oriented
  • Must have G Class license
  • Class F Driver’s license an asset or willingness to obtain
  • Adult Day Program Experience
  • Additional languages an asset
