Just For You and Circle of Support
Once participants have completed First Steps, ongoing support programs are available. These groups meet once a month in both Woodstock and Tillsonburg, and provide an opportunity for participants to learn from and share with one another. Participants are people wtih dementia and one family member or friend. Participants meet all together to start, and then break into small groups: one for people with dementia and one for family members and friends. Additional family members and friends will be invited to other programs. There is no charge for this service.
Participants agree that the group setting allows them to openly discuss their feelings, experiences and fears in a non-judgmental and supportive atmosphere. Call the Alzheimer Society at 519-421-2466 to speak to a Family Support Worker about the support group meetings in your area.
Once participants have completed First Steps, this program provides the opportunity to socialize and have fun! People with dementia and a family member or friend are invited. Meeting over a shared lunch, this monthly program may include music, sharing hobbies and games, hearing from guest speakers about healthy living, and trips to local places of interest.
