Special Events Assistant (Summer Student)

The Alzheimer Society of Grey-Bruce requires a summer student to assist with planning one of our major fundraising events; the Alzheimer Coffee Break.  This position is based on 30 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with some flexibility to attend special events as required. Please note, this position is contingent on funding provided by Canada Summer Jobs.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with planning for the Annual Alzheimer Coffee Break Campaign in Grey and Bruce counties.  This is a national fundraising event organized at the local level.  The target for this year’s event is to raise $50,000
  • Assist with recruitment of approximately 300 hosts for Coffee Break.  This will be done through letters of invitation to past hosts and potential new hosts as well as through telephone, email and personal contacts.  Contacts will be made with a variety of organizations across Grey-Bruce
  • Update mailing lists and add additional contact information
  • Maintain up to date listing and files for all coffee break ambassadors and hosts
  • Prepare Coffee Break host packages for delivery.
  • Work with volunteers

Requirements:

  • Community college/University student
  • Ability to work independently
  • Strong computer skills
  • Good communication skills
  • Excellent telephone skills
  • Familiar with Microsoft Word and Excel
