University-College Challenge
Join students across Nova Scotia who are raising awareness of Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias throughout Alzheimer Awareness Month in January.
The Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia needs student groups such as sports teams, fraternities, sororities and societies to get involved in fundraising activites and participate in this exciting challenge. The Acadia Axemen football players were the challenge winners in 2011 and have been doing a successful door-to-door campaign for a number of years.
“We have 60 players that go out the last Wednesday of January and tackle 21 designated routes around Wolfville, says Josh Lambert, QB Coach and Recruiting Coodinator for the Axemen. In a small town, Acadia has a huge impact. The University-College challenge is great for team building and we believe in supporting this cause. We go out and give all that we have. It’s something the community looks forward to.”
Alzheimer’s disease affects more than the individual, it affects the entire family. It’s important for Nova Scotians to become educated about the disease and start practicing better brain health at all ages.
Is your school up for the challenge? If you would like to participate in the challenge, need additional information or talk about a fundraising idea that fits with your group please contact Beth Jackson at 902 422-7961 ext 228 or email
