Message from the Executive Director
The Alzheimer Society of North Bay and District has grown over the past 24 years. November 1, 2012, we will be celebrating our 25th anniversary of services here in North Bay. We have created services to meet the needs of our community and continue expanding on our strong support team for those who need us most. As per the Hopkins Report, 2010, by the year end of 2012, the Nipissing District is predicted to have 1,384 diagnosed dementia cases. The Society is committed to supporting and educating the community and families that will affected by this disease. We will travel the "Journey" with them, so they do not feel alone. We need to help these people in order to keep families together for as long as we can.
The Alzheimer Society of North Bay and District provides and maintains the highest level of professionalism in dealing with the aged and the aging population. We teach our families and the communities how to cope with the personal and social consequences of Alzheimer's Disease and related disorders. The need for a coordinated response for all those dealing with dementia is crucial. We put a great deal of effort into providing the necessary services that assist our community in accepting and respecting the dignity of these people and their caregivers. We are committed to continuous quality improvement in all programs to ensure that our services remain up to date and accessible to those in need of them.
It is our hope to continue on this path of increased awareness and to reach out to those in need. WE will have new challenges and obstacles to overcome, but with our dedicated staff, we will rise to the occasion and meet our goals. We will one day see our vision of "A world without Alzheimer's Disease and related disorders" come true!
Sincerely,
Linda Brown
Executive Director and Support Counselor
