Next Steps and Care Essentials

Next Steps and Care Essentials offers an opportunity for families and friends of individuals with a diagnosis of dementia to learn more about dementia, develop caregiving strategies, and become familiar with community resources and supports. This 4 week series will be offered monthly in various cities throughout the Niagara Region and each series will cover the following topics:

Week 1: Overview of Dementia & Brain Health

Week 2: Understanding Behaviour & Communication Strategies

Week 3: Supportive Strategies & Caring for Yourself

Week 4: Adapting to Care Needs & Role Changes

Each session is facilitated by trained staff, volunteers or guest speakers. In order to receive the full benefit of this series it is recommended that you plan to attend all 4 weeks.

All family caregivers and friends are welcome.  There is no charge for this series.

"Beyond Words" Early-Stage Learning Series

This ten-week learning series brings together persons in the early stages of dementia, along with their care partners. During the first two sessions care partners and persons with dementia will meet together, while during the remaining eight sessions the groups meet separately. Educational content is linked specifically to each group’s experiences and open dialogue and communication is encouraged.
