Coffee Break
What is Coffee Break®?
Coffee Break® is the Alzheimer Society's major nationwide annual fundraiser where friends, co-workers and customers gather in communities across Canada to raise funds for local Alzheimer Societies. Participants at these events make a donation in exchange for a cup of coffee. The money raised stays in the community to help support local programs and services.
Where does an Alzheimer Coffee Break® take place?
Large corporations, small businesses, hospitals, schools, service organizations, health-care facilities and private residences are just a few examples of ideal places to host coffee breaks. You can organize an event -- large or small in your community, workplace or home.
When does it take place?
Coffee Break® events take place throughout September and into October. Check the events calendar for dates, times and locations in your area.
How do I host a Coffee Break®?
It's easy. You can hold a break in your office, at home, at your church, in a local mall or anywhere you can set up a stand and serve coffee or give out coffee cup cut-outs. You can also offer tea and juice, add cookies or pastries to increase the donations, or use the coffee cup cut-outs for supporters to write their name on in recognition for their donation. To get started, contact the Fund Development Coordinator at funddev@alzheimersociety.ca to register and receive host information.
Why should you host an Alzheimer Coffee Break®?
When you host an Alzheimer Coffee Break® in your community, you help raise much-needed funds for local programs and services for people with Alzheimer's disease and their caregivers. Your support makes a huge difference in their lives.
Need some ideas for your Coffee Break®?
-
Invite friends, family and neighbours over for a coffee party and tell them it's in support of the Alzheimer Society. We even have special invitations for you to use.
-
Bake sales are great!
-
Who doesn't love homemade baking with their coffee?
-
Already sell coffee? Donate a portion of your proceeds to the Alzheimer Society.
-
Have people bring in their gently used items and hold a garage sale (with coffee of course!).
-
Use the coffee cut-outs as tickets for an office draw. Have a local business or your company donate a prize for the winner.
-
Organize a dress down day at work.
-
Not a coffee fan? Consider a fruit smoothie or hot chocolate party.
