About the Alzheimer Society of Greater Simcoe County
The Alzheimer Society of Greater Simcoe County is a registered charitable organization founded by a group of family caregivers in 1985. The Society is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors consisting of community professionals, people living with dementia and care partners.
The Society provides the following:
- Information and referral
- Education and public awareness
- Support
- Funding for research
- Advocacy
The Alzheimer Society of Greater Simcoe County relies on the generosity of the community to achieve its goals. Funding is provided through donations, grants, memberships and ongoing fundraising activities. Funding from Ontario's Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care through the North Simcoe Muskoka Local Health Integration Network supports the Society's education and public awareness program, and support services.
Through its affiliation with the Alzheimer Society of Ontario and the Alzheimer Society of Canada, the Alzheimer Society of Greater Simcoe County plays an active role in supporting the growth and development of the Alzheimer movement throughout Canada.
