A retired accountant with Social Services, Marcy Verbeke was first drawn to volunteering with the Alzheimer’s Society when an ad to do some data entry caught her eye. Two years later, Marcy has helped out with a variety of projects and administrative tasks, including the annual Walk for Memories. In addition, she is a vital member of our finance team, lending her expertise to help with account recs and developing our budget. She was also part of a major funding grant announcement, an experience she said made her feel like a real part of the team. Having experienced the affects of Alzheimer’s disease when both her father and uncle were diagnosed, Marcy has very much come to appreciate the “caring, patient and respectful treatment of clients and client families as well as the volunteers by the staff.” She is quick to point out that in addition to providing flexible hours and the opportunity to perform a variety of tasks, the society is an excellent place for potential volunteers to give back to the community, and to meet new people!
“I appreciate the positive, friendly environment and convenient parking!”
We all look forward to seeing Marcy week after week in the office!
