Cathy Hinther stepped down from the Alzheimers Society of Saskatchewan Board of Directors on June 1, 2013. Having joined the Board in 2007, she completed three two-year terms and served as Vice-President and Chair of the Nominating Committee.
Cathy has worked with clients living with Alzheimer’s disease throughout her entire career. A social worker by profession with a Masters of Social Work, she is currently employed as a Manager for the Saskatoon Health Region. Cathy has worked in Acute Care, Long Term Care, Enriched Housing, Integrated Health Care, and the Personal Care Homes Unit of the Department of Health. Throughout her career Cathy has accessed services from the Alzheimer Society to provide education for staff and support for families. She has facilitated support groups, counseled families and managed an Adult Care Program and several Personal Care Homes.
Cathy’s volunteer involvement with the Alzheimer Society began in 1995, long before becoming a board member. She has participated in Coffee Break, Walk for Memories and Door-to-Door Campaigns. She is also a member of the “It’s About Time” major gift campaign cabinet. Cathy makes it a priority to attend events like our Annual Provincial Conferences and the 2012 Awareness Event at the Legislative Building.
One of the highlights of Cathy’s years on the board is the experience of everyone working together for the right reason: “I truly believe that the organization is working together to create a quality of life for the patients and families living with Alzheimer’s disease,” says Cathy. She finds it truly heart warming to know that she is helping for all the right reasons.
Thank you, Cathy, for your dedication and contributions as a member of the board over the past six years as well as for your involvement over the past 18 years.
