'Tis the Season - Turn Your Holiday Party Into a Fundraiser

Christmas comes but once a year, so why not use the opportunity to give back to your community?

We all know the Christmas season is busy. Gift exchanges, family functions, and various year end commitments tie up our free time and eventually the giving season has slipped by once again. That’s why we’re here to show you an easy way to give back: Host a Christmas party in support of the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia.

The number of Nova Scotians with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia is on the rise. Currently, 17,000 families in Nova Scotia face Alzheimer’s disease and dementia on a daily basis. This means that there are thousands of Nova Scotians that have lost their fondest Christmas memories with family and friends. People with Alzheimer’s disease need your help.

If you’re already attending or hosting a holiday party, this fundraising idea makes perfect sense. Set out a box for donations at the party, host an ugly Christmas sweater day at work, or even give a donation in someone’s name instead of a secret Santa present. Many people have more small trinkets than they’d care to admit, so a donation in their honour would be an especially creative and unique gift. It’s the giving season, after all!

As always, we’re here to help. Contact us if you’d like some informational supplies, party planning tips and tricks, or even a brightly coloured donation box. We know you’d do Anything for Alzheimer’s, and we want to make sure your event is a hit.

Happy Holidays from all of us here at the Alzheimer’s Society of Nova Scotia.
