Where your Giving Tuesday donations go

For some, $22,000 dollars might seem like a small amount. You hear of big campaigns every day raising money to build new hospitals or universities. But at the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia, we can do a lot with $22,000 to help support individuals with dementia, caregivers and families.

How can so many people receive support? The Society has many partners who help deliver our programs, promote our services and offer support to families in in communities outside of Halifax.

Deloitte in Atlantic, along with an anonymous donor, will match individual donations up to $11,000. That means your $25 donation would actually turn into $50!

So, with no core-government funding, and close to 17,000 Nova Scotians living with Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias how does your donation this holiday season help?

  • Groups in our province will have access to public education sessions. Organizations, clubs and business’ request education sessions on everything from “Healthy Brains” to “10 Warning Signs of Dementia.” We do over 100 free sessions each year.
  • Support Groups in 20 communities. Once a month caregivers come together to share their experience on the dementia journey. This is a time for them to receive new strategies, tips and resources from the Alzheimer Society.
  • New programs for people with dementia. With heightened awareness of dementia, more and more individuals are looking for services and supports specifically for them.
Thank you for helping us raise funds each year to help so many Nova Scotians
