Volunteer Calling Program
Mary joins the Volunteer Friendly Calling Program!
"My name is Mary Trotter and I have been a volunteer at the Alzheimer Society of Dufferin County for a few months now and already I feel that I have gained so much from my volunteer experience as a Friendly Caller. Each client that I speak to has a different story, all connected by this life-changing disease. I find it rewarding to be able to help them in any way I can. I came into this position knowing very little about Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias but have learned so much through clients and the friendly and welcoming staff in the office, who are always available to answer questions.
"I find that being able to provide someone with resources, connecting them with groups or being able to offer compassionate ear is especially rewarding. It is incredible to be able to provide assistance to someone dealing with something as difficult as caring for a loved one with this disease. Whether you are looking for experience to help you in the workforce or a productive way to spend your time, I would highly recommend volunteering at the Alzheimer Society of Dufferin County."
