Shaping the journey: Living with dementia program

Shaping the journey is an interactive program designed to combine dementia education, informative videos, group discussions and engaging activities in each session. Participants can learn about the dementia journey and plan for the future in a supportive and safe environment designed to encourage participants to share their experiences.

This is a multi-week education series that typically runs over five weeks. This program will cover the following topics:

  • The brain and dementia
  • The diagnosis
  • Taking control of your health and well-being
  • Planning ahead
  • Life after diagnosis

The Shaping the journey: Living with dementia® program includes a self-guided workbook. This workbook has valuable information that will help you consider some important issues. To learn more about the topics covered within this program and the accompanying workbook, please view the table of contents.

The program is offered in-person only, and is for people who have received a recent diagnosis or are experiencing early symptoms of dementia and their primary care partner.

Participants who attend Shaping the journey often report feeling less alone after they attend the program. Being connected to others in similar situations and knowing where to get information and support helps ensure people living with dementia and their care partners have the knowledge and confidence to manage their journey with dementia.
