Honour those who face dementia in the Investors Group Walk for Alzheimer's

Join the Alzheimer Society of B.C. on Sunday, May 1 in the Investors Group Walk for Alzheimer’s –Canada’s biggest fundraiser for Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias. It’s a fun and family-friendly way to create new memories while sending a message of hope to the over 747,000 Canadians – including 70,000 British Columbians – currently living with dementia, and those who care for them

You can register for the Walk as an individual or as part of the team. Any teams who raise over $1,000 by April 15 will be entered into a draw for a $500 BestBuy gift card. Click here for full contest details.

Each of the 23 Walks across the Province is dedicated to an honoree, someone who has been impacted by Alzheimer’s disease or another dementia. In White Rock & Surrey, this year’s honoree is Marilyn Stewart.

Marilyn’s father, Michael Czorny, developed Alzheimer’s disease in 1960. At that time, people with dementia were often committed to psychiatric wards. Marilyn made a personal vow to change this approach to one of dignity, love and respect. Her dream was to build a comfortable, home-like care residence specifically designed to meet the needs of individuals living with dementia. When you walk, you make memories matter. You honour those who have passed and acknowledge the work that must be done to ensure help and hope for those living with the disease today. Click here to register, or for more information contact Development Coordinator Jennifer Cameron at 604-742-4948.
